For the last post on LED for now, we will compare the energy between incandescent, fluorescent and LED. The approximate difference is 85% more efficient than incandescent and 35% more than CFLS. The color rendering is better and the life lasts almost 30 times longer than incandescent and almost 3 times fluorescent.
BTW, the bulb in the picture is a recessed housing. Bulbs are usually not that size
So what do you think?
Steve, one more question. Sorry to bombard you with emails. I was wondering if you had any recommendations for lighting in the living room. As I mentioned in my previous post I am thinking of removing my recessed lighting. I have a kitchen/living room combo that is about 20x12. I am thinking of ditching the 4 recessed lights in the livingroom and adding a fan with a light in the center of the room while keeping the recessed lights over the kitchen counters. Thanks, John
ReplyDeleteIts tough to layout lighting without an actual layout....
ReplyDeleteHowever, I would ask what the task application actually is. The living room is less problematic, because we actually like a darker area to watch tv. We can also suppliment with lamps for reading
Removing light from the kitchen is a problem. Kitchens and baths need the most illumination. I would add undercounter lighting, and maybe look at the sink area and other areas for food preparation as well for additional lights
Thanks for the quick response. I just re-read your posting on ceiling fans from awhile back. I think I am going to go with a ceiling fan that has some upward and downward facing lighting. With that said, any suggestions? Also what would be the major differences in a fan that you sell at Yale vs a Hunter fan or similar brand at a home improvement center? Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteDepends on your tastes...I like the more contemporary BelAir Halo by Casablanca or the Panama
ReplyDeleteWhen you buy a paddle fan look at the following: Switching devise(it should be able to be reversed from the switch), and blade finish as it should be real wood and laquered...The fan itself should not wobble.
There is no question that there are good fans and fans for a price.
