As Jo answered, the most popular size is 36 inches. At 42 inch that refrigerator can only appeal to maybe 4% of the market at best. An oversized freezer drawer is hard to open for many consumers.
Good idea, but with a little market research, they should have manufacturered the identical unit in 36 inch.
OK, this is killing me because I was looking at this EXACT fridge in planning my kitchen renovation. I thought it would be a good compromise between the behemoth 48 inch+ built-ins and the too-small 36 inchers. So, my question is this...is this fridge going away? Should we not buy it for some other reason? If we go with 36 inches should we look at the sub zeros or stay with kitchen aid? Should we look at the not built in Kitchen Aid Architect series counter-depth fridges to save some $$$ and then just get a fridge for the basement or maybe do a refrigerator drawer? How do the maintenance of Kitchen Aids compare vs. Sub-Zero. I am so confused!!!
ReplyDeleteMea Culpa: This is not a bad product at all...It just did not meet their sales goal. 42 inch is not a popular size. If you have a 42 inch cabinet, then this unit is a consideration. Just open the bottom drawer first...
ReplyDeleteAnother consideration would be the 36 inch bottom freezer or a french door integrated product from Thermador/Bosch
I am sorry if I confused the issue as quality when the problem was marketing......
