Want to see some cool pics? I went to Rome (good for 3-4 days), Taoromina Sicily (just ok), Clgiari Sardinia (great)and Porto Cuervo (Wow...really wow) also in Sardinia.
As always, there are home improvement tidbits to be discovered if you just look around. We will this week look at some Murano fixtures, how to light an art gallery and plan some cool landscaping...and some of the other usual posts.
But we will start with Samsung...actually now.
Honest opinions about how to buy Appliances and Lighting.

Track Types
You recognize this:
This has been around since the 60s. The whole track becomes electrified and heads(light sources) can be moved along as you see fit. But its a tad boring, so out of the commercial arena emanated these alternatives.
Cable
Cable light is similar to track only a lot trendier, but it is difficult to install. You also need a ton of different parts to complete the installation without losing your mind.
Monorail
My favorite...You can bend this 358 degrees, it is trendy and much simpler to install.

Recessed....Trims
A recessed fixture is really two parts. First, there is the electrical part, called inexplicably a "can". The decorative part is called a trim...
But there many kinds of trims for different applications.
Multi use....Definitely the most popular is called the baffle...Just a white cone for your white ceiling.
Directional....Shining specific areas like walls or different objects. Look at eyeballs, gimbals, pinholes and half moons depending on the application.
Shower....Wet location or covered trims.

Labor Day!!!!
Strict rule of retail: Pound your customers with promotions on any three day holiday. Look it up. We have President's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day (seems ironic), Columbus Day and Veterans Day. Car dealers are notorious for the best sale of the year on that particular weekend.
So are appliance stores. I am still on vacation, but I am willing to bet there are 20% off sales at Sears, Best Buy, Lowe's and HD. They are smart. However, this great promotion is generated by rebates.
Have a look at these packages before and after rebates from September 1-6...
Bosch: $2999 to $3199 after Labor Day
Frigidaire (oddly enough their rebates start at 20% off): $1999 to $2399 after Labor Day
GE: $2499 to $2999 after Labor Day
