The LED Revolution Started Here?

LED technology was actually pioneered about 3 miles away from Yale in Southie by a company called Color Kinetics. Although the company could not manufacture a white LED, Kinetics was great with colors and very popular commercially.

Lots of exciting movement on the LED front -- including locally. A local LED developer, LumenZ, was featured on boston.com in a list of top local innovators yesterday. Cree, another US company, recently launched their EcoSmart ceiling can fixture through Home Depot. It dims very low, has a far superior color balance to CF and a great price point. And giant multinationals like Philips are investing like crazy -- very interested to come into the store and check out this fixture.
