Yale And Whirlpool

At one point in time, we were a huge customer of the Whirlpool company, but we have since parted ways in the last two years. From my perspective, they have lost focus, and have been beaten to the market by their rivals, especially in the luxury and affordable luxury segments. They are also behind (in my opinion) in induction and cooking technologies in general.

Still, they do have great brands and very efficient manufacturers. Here are a couple of pieces you should consider buying in February...

KitchenAid KUDC03FVSS

Stainless integrated at $599 after a gazillion dollars in rebates. I like this unit. It has good features for a very decent price...Still love the brand. My mother had one for 18 years.

Whirlpool Duet WFW9150

Its not the biggest anymore. At $499, however, it is about about $300-400 cheaper than three years ago ...

Now about the cooking.....

  1. Thank you for your blog! It's a wealth of information. I wish I could shop at your store, but I live in Ohio. I know you talk about rebates a lot, but I'm still not quite sure how they work. I'm a young newlywed and I've only purchased one appliance so far (GE Profile French Door Refrigerator which is great). Is the Whirlpool Duet Washer $499 because of rebates? If I were to go to a local appliance store would the same rebates be available to me? I saw on one of your posts (about your rebate guy :)) that sometimes there are more than one rebate available.... Can you explain a bit? Thanks a million. ~ Kim

  2. Newlywed Kim: Thank you for your kind words. The Duet is rebate driven($300, I believe), but
rebates seem to differ by region.

Presidents Day would be a good time to decide, because the rebates converge then. Use the internet and call your local dealers....

    Good luck

PS: He is still rebate BOY, not man...has to earn that ;)
