Energy Tip Of the Day

I have an easy one. You probably have bought or are buying a Christmas tree. Adorn with LED lights and save a bunch of electricity. These lights do not emit heat, so they are safer. According to Florida Power and light, if everyone chage to LEDS over 400,000 tons of cabon dioxide would not be released into the atmosphere. Yow.

Instead of buying cards, send ecards to eliminate the need for paper...

  1. Steve, I was checking out your website as I am about to change my recessed lighting to allow for insulation. You have three different IC rated 6" cans the JC, JC926, and JC928. What the is the major difference between them. Also, are the led recessed lights you mentioned in a previous post IC rated and airtight? Lastly, what is the difference between going with the Juno brand at Yale vs a brand like Halo at a box store? Thanks,
    John

  2. John,

The TC928 and TC926 are for sloped ceilings depending on the degree of the slope. The IC2 or IC22 would be appropriate for a regular ceiling.

THe LED housing really acts as a trim package with most 6 inch cans, so you would purchase a can in addition.

Lastly, Juno is a well constructed can and is the easiest to install with nails on the hanger bars.

Halo is actually not bad depending on the series. The private label product in home centers is really flimsy...I do not wish to demean stores and products, but just pick it up.

    Hope this helps

  3. Steve, I would like to know if trash compactors are eco-frinedly.

  4. Hmmmm....Let me answer the question with in a roundabout, political way

A compactor eliminates half the household trash by squeezing the air out of its contents....

It is eco friendly if you are separating the contents and not eco friendly if you do not.....
