Dry Cleaners

I love the dry cleaners. You bring them dirty, wrinkled laundry and you receive pressed, clean looking clothes. Billy and Hue at Columbus Street Dry Cleaners are like brothers to me. Unfortunately, the main ingredient to dry cleaning is Tetracholrethylene. A chemical this long cannot be good....And it isn't. I found an objective article from the government of Australia.

But anyway, until I find a green dry cleaner(can anyone help) I have a Miele washer and dryer with the honeycom drum...Is it possible to clean my clothes in a slow spin to not destroy the fabric?

  1. Steve, you should check out Bush Quality Cleaners. They use Green Earth Products which are slightly better for the environment (and you). Bush is on Newbury St, in the Pru, and in the financial district. Tuttles in Charlestown is also green. I use the one in the financial district on federal and it’s nice to have clothes that come back not smelling like chemicals. Their prices aren’t any higher than any other downtown cleaner. Good luck.

  3. Steve, you should check out Zoots or Clevergreen on Charles St (Beacon HIll). They both use PERC free chemicals. I think Clevergreen is completely non-toxic. Also Bush Quality Cleaners on Newbury St, in the Pru, and in the financial district use a non-toxic cleaner. Lastly, Tuttles in Charlestown uses the same formula as Bush. I like Clevergreen and their prices arent much higher than any other downtown cleaner. Hope this helps.

  5. Yes, sadly, I may have to leave Billy and Hue. Its hard for I am a loyalist...At the same time, I don't need to take unnecessary chances
